BULGARIAN SKI RESORTS AMONG THE BEST IN EASTERN EUROPE 17:40 Tue 31 Jan 2006
Bulgarian ski resorts have not yet reached the level of the Alps but are among the best in Easter Europe, German magazine GeoSaison reports. The magazine compares the quality of Bulgarian resort infrastructure to the one in the Czech Republic and Romania. Tourists are attracted to the beautiful nature and affordable prices in Bulgaria, the report says.
GeoSaison focuses mainly on Bansko. The magazine mentions the resort has well-developed infrastructure, including snow machines and lift networks. Nearly 40 million euro has been invested in the infrastructure, the magazine reports. The city still lacks proper road network, however. Bansko mayor Aleksander Kravarov said he hopes to get money for road repairs from EU funds.
Bansko and Borovets would meet the needs of all tourists, regardless whether they prefer luxurious accommodation or private housing. The price in both cases is affordable, GeoSaison concludes.
